I leaned over the kitchen counter, wrestling with a ball of totally uncooperative dough—today I was dead set on replicating my mom’s signature dumplings at home, but I almost messed up right at the first step: kneading the dough.
The recipe said “add water to flour and knead until smooth,” but turns out I poured just a tiny bit too much water. The dough got as sticky as taffy, clinging to my hands so tight I couldn’t flick it off no matter how hard I tried. I scrambled to grab a handful of dry flour to save the day; after kneading for what felt like forever, I finally shaped it into a lumpy, lopsided little dough ball. I covered it with plastic wrap to let it “rest” (aka chill out), crossing my fingers it’d be a little more well-behaved later~
